Amazon Synopsis:
The small Scottish town of Auchenmullan is dead, and has been for years. It sits in the shadow of a mountain, forgotten and atrophying in the perpetual gloom.
Forty-seven residents are all that remain.
There's nothing to do there, nothing to see, except for a solitary grave near the top of the mountain.
MAGGIE WALL BURIED HERE AS A WITCH reads the faded inscription.
But sometimes the dead don't stay buried. Especially when they have unfinished business.
Review:
"October 4th 1657 Maggie Wall watched through the thin slit of the window as the six men arrived on horseback. They had come to kill her."
Maggie's Grave starts out in 1657 in a Scottish Highland town of Auchenmullan, at the foot of the mountain where Maggie Wall is brutally murdered brought on by the suspicions of the town folk. Years later we are now in the year 2019, with only 47 people left dwelling in the town.It has become a ghost town with nothing to do and nothing to see and no hope for a future. Steve, Grady, Alice and Beth are the youngest of the townsfolk. They have always been told the tale of Maggie Wall and her demise, but never really believed it was true. Maggie has returned once again and so begins her wrath upon the town. Secrets are unburied, sacrifices have been made, and the fight for survival has begun.
There are so many elements in this that make a great folk horror. A local legend, a small desolate town sitting in the shadows, deep hidden secrets, the irritating yet likable young folk that have no clue what to do with thier lives, a monster that is unstoppable, sex, death, and a gory blood bath. But there is also a center of a mothers love for her child and digging deep to find courage to survive and save the ones you love.
Fast paced and brutal, it's a great read!!
